Aglaonema ‘Pistachio Pink’ – Chinese Evergreen
A soft and uplifting variety, Aglaonema ‘Pistachio Pink’ features beautifully patterned leaves in gentle shades of green, cream, and blush pink. Its subtle variegation and pastel tones make it a lovely choice for brightening indoor spaces without overwhelming them. Like other Aglaonemas, it’s easy-going and well-suited to a range of home environments.
Scientific Name
Aglaonema ‘Pistachio Pink’ (from Greek aglaos meaning bright and nema meaning thread)
Common Name
Chinese Evergreen
Origin
Derived from Aglaonema species native to tropical and subtropical regions of Asia, particularly Southeast Asia.
Light
Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain its pink variegation. It can tolerate lower light, but colours may become less vibrant. Avoid direct sun, which can scorch the leaves.
Water
Allow the top few centimetres of soil to dry out between waterings. Keep the soil lightly moist but never soggy. Reduce watering in winter when growth slows.
Humidity
Tolerates average household humidity but will thrive with a little extra moisture in the air. A pebble tray or placing near other plants can help in drier homes.
Soil
Use a well-draining houseplant compost. A mix with added perlite or bark will help improve drainage and airflow to the roots.
Food
Feed every 3–4 waters during the growing season with a balanced liquid fertiliser. Reduce feeding in autumn and winter.
Temperature
Prefers temperatures between 18–27°C. Avoid temperatures below 15°C and protect from cold drafts.
Pet-safe
Toxic if ingested, so keep out of reach of pets and children.
Sprouts Top Tips
If the pink tones start to fade, try moving your plant to a brighter spot – good light is key to keeping that soft, colourful variegation.
Extras
Aglaonemas are known for being one of the more forgiving houseplants, making them a great choice for beginners or lower-maintenance spaces.
Did You Know?
Aglaonemas have been cultivated for centuries in Asia and are often associated with good luck and prosperity in the home.
